The educators at Wattle Grove have been encouraging our children to learn about the Sonas Community. This has come from children watching visitors and other educators coming into the centre.

The children have enjoyed getting to know each and every Sonas community member as they come into the centre.

The highlight of their week of learning was when our maintenance man Ross came for his monthly visit. The children became very engaged watching Ross help keep our service safe for the children. As Ross was maintaining the water feature, the children eagerly sat on the wall around and watched intently.

The children asked Ross questions like “what are you doing” and “why do you fix things here”

As Ross was checking our boundary fence, the children followed behind and checked the fence as well. They asked Ross about the different tools that he uses and then waved goodbye as he was leaving.

After our maintenance visit some of the children used their newfound knowledge to walk around pretending to fix areas within the garden. They excitedly told educators that they can’t wait for the next visit to see what else they can fix to help Ross.
