Today the children participated in a focus group session of Simon says. The intent behind the activity was to encourage and support the development of instructional skills for our children.

We began with the instruction of following one Simon says instruction at a time. When the children could competently demonstrate this, we moved onto two-step instructions.

The children appeared to pick this up quite quickly, so we moved onto 3-step instructions, however, this proved to be a bit more complex for some of the children.

The children then switched it up to give instructions to their peers, as a way to build up their language development and ability to follow instructions from not only teachers but their peers as well.

Analysis of learning: child understands, follows, and uses appropriate social and conversational rules.
