Today in our Pre kindy experience we focused on the mathematical concept of subitising which supports children to identify numbers in different formats and texts.

One child began the session by showing his peers what each number of the dice was and then rolled it. As it landed on the number told his peers the number.

Cherie encouraged the children to find the number on their page and place the counter on-top of the matching number. Some children had difficulties with this, so we used our number flash cards to help support the children to find the matching number.

We continued this experience by tracing over the numbers so that when the experience is extended the children would be able to write the numbers themselves.
