Today for our numeracy lesson, the educators asked the question how would we like to explore numbers today?

The children had so many suggestions such as drawing them on the floor, whilst others suggested we use our fingers and toes.

The educators then suggested that we incorporate our numeracy lesson into the language development of children. This then left to the game of who stole the cookie from the cookie jar.

For this experience we got all the children to engage and sit in a circle as we placed a cookie jar in the centre. And we then went around learning everyone’s names and singing our new song.

Once we had finished we then discovered that the cookie jar was filled with other items. The children then hypothesized how many lollies were in the jar. We then tipped them out into a container and counted them.
