Experienced child educator Meghan Barry has joined Sonas Atwell as the new centre manager and says she has been impressed at the innovative and nurturing way in which Sonas operates.

Meghan started with Sonas four months ago, just two weeks after moving 4000km across the country from Newcastle, New South Wales.

When I started working with children, I immediately fell in love with what it had to offer. I loved the idea of making an impact on children’s lives and supporting them to learn in the most developmental years of their lives.

As the Centre Manager and Educational Leader at Atwell, she is responsible for the overall function of the service, and oversees staff to ensure high quality education and care is being provided to all children.

Meghan, who has worked with children for more than seven years, said she was immediately attracted to the on-floor management style at Sonas, which allowed leaders to build strong relationships with the children and families as well as the educators.

“When I started looking for a job here in Western Australia, the Sonas philosophy and standards really stood out to me above the rest,” Meghan said.

“I felt like the free flow approach, mixed ageing and being on the floor guiding staff practice really reignited with my personal beliefs about children’s education and care.

“Sonas has definitely been a new experience compared to previous centres I have worked in. The way the organisation prioritises children’s health, safety, education and care with management on the floor supporting and guiding practice, truly makes a difference.

“When I started working with children, I immediately fell in love with what it had to offer. I loved the idea of making an impact on children’s lives and supporting them to learn in the most developmental years of their lives.”

Meghan is professionally trained with a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care, a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and Certificate 4 in School Aged Education and Care.
