Last week in the STEM we did an experiment called the Magic Milk Experiment!

The children helped Charina gather all the materials we will need for the experiment such as milk, food colouring, droppers, dishwashing soap, and the tray. The children gather around the table and take turns pouring the milk in the tray. This experiment is very easy to turn an ordinary milk into rainbow colours.

After pouring the milk in the tray, Charina demonstrated dropping some food colouring on the milk carefully. The children observed the food colouring and asked why it’s not mixing together? Then Charina gave the children some droppers and a cup of dishwashing soap. Charina asked the children to slowly drop some soap on the milk and food colouring mixture and observe what will happen. When children started dropping some soap, they were amazed and shouted Wow! To see them mixed together.

Charina explained to them that the soap connects with the milk so the food colouring gets pushed around everywhere resulting in an explosion of rainbow colours!

The children had so much fun doing the experiment and we will extend it by putting some frozen hippos on the mixture and rescuing the hippos by melting the ice using the droppers and the mixture.
