Today, the children have engaged in their AECD activity with some fine motor practice.

I set up a plate with different coloured and textured materials along with some tongs to allow the children to practice picking up the soft, hard, small, and large materials to then transfer into a container.

We discussed the name, colour, and feeling of each of the materials while completing this activity, and once they were all transferred into the container, we worked together to sort them back into their separate sections to begin again.

Through this activity, the children are further developing their fine motor skills, learning to transfer this skill to serving themselves at meal times, learning colour recognition, the difference between textures, and persistence when a task is difficult for the first time.
