Today we decided to plant some chia seeds and see if we could get them to grow.
The children took it in turns to put some cotton wool and seeds into the egg cartons, before taking turns with the spray bottle to water them. While doing this we spoke about the thing’s plants need to grow, such as water and sunlight.
The children also asked why we had to put cotton wool into the egg cartons so we decided to place some seeds into the egg carton without it, to see if they grow differently. This is a great experience to help children learn to care for the environment around them.
They are able to see what happens when they do/don’t look after their seeds, helping them to understand the importance of caring for things.
