The children had lots of fun doing some salt painting today.

They had a tray full of salt and used paintbrushes and pipettes to drop coloured water into the salt.  Some of the children used various colours, examining the way they mix and the patterns they create, while others used just one colour and watched the way it soaked into the salt.

Some of the children also mixed the colours together to see what new colours they could create. Once they had finished adding the water, they then used their senses to explore the texture of the salt. They noticed that it felt crunchy and wet, while commenting that it looked like snow.

The children had such a great time exploring and experimenting with this activity.
