Playdough mats are an easy way to grow kids’ imaginations, develop fine motor skills and teach important skills like counting.
Children understand the relationship between numbers and quantities while doing playdough counting activities. This fortnight we are focusing on our counting 1-5 and 1-10. By doing this we make some playdough together then roll our playdough into small balls.
Once we had enough balls to count with, we started to follow the numbers for the number of balls we needed. Number 1 needed 1 ball, number 2 needed 2 balls, number 3 needed 3 balls and so on. It’s been a great interactive counting game that helps other developmental skills also.
