As part of the Sonas Pre-kindergarten program, the children took part in a numeracy activity.

The numeracy activity was available to all children, and they were able to take part and participate. The children selected the number, and if they knew it or didn’t, the children are still supported.

Miss Beck sat down and first pointed out the numbers and identified them to match the number cards. Then Miss Beck showed the children how to push the peg open and let it shut on the number card. This allowed the peg to stay, and the children could point and count with Miss Beck.

All the children engaged well and asked for help when needed; some children even created a range of different ways to use the pegs, such as making a spider with lots of legs.

That’s okay, we encourage creativity, and Miss Beck then counted all the legs the spider had.
