Role play: calling 000
Learning about emergency lines is important for children to learn about their safety and assist them with managing their fears.
Today, children learned how to call the emergency line (000).
We used the phone pictures in a role play. The educator showed the children how to dial triple 0 and pretended to talk with the police.
We also discussed unsafe situations, e.g., if you get lost at the shops or in a public place. I encouraged the children that when they find themselves in this situation, they should keep calm and find a safe place to stand, or look for a person with a badge, or look for the nearest shop and ask for assistance.
Analysis of learning:
Children express a broad range of emotions and recognize these emotions in themselves and others.
